Bansuri: Pannalal Ghosh

It was the music instrument of Lord Krishna, who is often depicted playing the six-holed flute. The Bansuri remained a folk instrument until about a century ago, Pannalal Ghosh, like an ingenious inventor started experimenting with the size and number of holes to achieve a richer and more vocal sound. Thus came the new era of Bansuri as it was injected slowly into mainstream raga music. Not only did he metamorphose the instrument, Pannalal Ghosh mastered it too, and thus laid the foundation of a new style of music.
